Restrap Winter Photography Expedition
The following is a proposal to Restrap for a photography expedition to the Black Mountains, documenting in a candid, reportage style winter cycling in remote areas. The content will be diverse, with a heavy focus on product portraits. This could be done with either the Carry Everything or Expedition range, or a combination of the two.
I am proposing to Restrap an opportunity for an autonomously produced photoset focusing on a journey through the Black mountains. The photography will be of sufficiently high quality to be used in catalogues, on your website, as well as on social channels such as Instagram. The trip will focus on a mix of on road and off road gravel riding to provide the widest array of content possible. I have carried out similar trips for a variety of other brands with my work being used extensively by Brooks England. My work has been used as the front cover of the 2018 Brooks Book for Cyclists, used on the Pannier.cc journal, in Boneshaker Magazine, and been used large format internationally at trade and fashion shows. My work has also been exhibited in the Brooks flagship store in Covent Garden, and I have upcoming work to be released in the coming months for The Guardian, Millican and Sidetracked Magazine. As well as an extensive array of landscape shots I will also provide portraits of each individual product, including internal and external details. Portraits of the loaded bikes and extensive off the bike content such as wild camping ( or possibly a bothy stopover), campfires and wild swimming will also be provided. This may be a useful opportunity for Restrap to promote the upcoming set of expedition panniers, with product portraits, landscapes and trip reportage from the commission forming a consistent marketing campaign . I very much admire Restrap and have hoped to work with you for some time. If approved, I will arrange dates and deliver the content when it is convenient for you.
What Restrap will receive.
For the fee of £700 I will deliver a wide range of photographic content including landscape photography, trip reportage and a comprehensive array of product, bike and rider portraits. If desirable, for an additional £50 I will also write up an account of the trip focusing on the journey and the mythology/ geography of the area for the Restrap blog. An example of previous writing can be found here.
I have estimated the expenses of the trip to be around £60. This represents two return train tickets to the area of Wales I hope to shoot at. I have chosen the location on the basis that it is close to my base in Bristol and therefore expenses will be kept very low. If desirable to Restrap, I can potentially bring another friend (who has also modelled for Brooks) and works in the bicycle industry. Aside from these expenses, I will also need the products to photograph. Typically, I have kept the products after shoots with brands as I have gone on to do further work for them and used the same items. However, I am happy to return the products to you if you so wish.
The following gallery is a selection of photographs from my portfolio that demonstrate the type of work I am offering to produce on behalf of Restrap.
